Julie Rubenstein

 

 

 

Sports Shack Alumnus (2005), Julie Rubenstein, is returning to the club to coach the 13-1’s. Julie is looking to pass on her knowledge after playing at the highest level of Division 1 college volleyball.

As a collegiate player, Julie played as an Outside Hitter at Pepperdine University. In her Freshman year, Julie was voted to the WCC All-Freshman team, recorded 27 double-digit kill matches, named MVP of the Sheraton Invitational Tournament, earned all-tournament team at the Pepperdine Classic and the Player’s Challenge, set the school and WCC record with eight solo blocks against San Diego, and posted a season-high 25 kills against UCLA. In her Sophomore year, Julie was named to the All-WCC first team, had 23 matches where she reached double-digits in kills and 10+ digs, and was named to the 2006 WCC All-Academic squad. In her Junior year, Julie was named to the All-WCC first team again, recorded a career-high 29 kills at University of San Diego, had two 20-20 performances: 25 kills and 22 digs at Arkansas and 24 kills and 20 digs against San Francisco, made the all-tournament teams at the Arkansas and Texas Invitationals, voted as Pepperdine’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year for 2007-08, named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District third team, and earned WCC All-Academic team honors. In her Senior Year, Julie led Pepperdine University to a top 15 ranking in the NCAA, earned AVCA All-Pacific Region first team, and earned the honors of 3rd Team All-American by the AVCA. Also in her collegiate career, Julie played on the U.S. Volleyball A2 team during summer 2007 and the USA Select team in Argentina during summer 2006.

In her prep years, Julie played at Oaks Christian High School and Sports Shack Volleyball Club. At Oaks Christian High School, Julie received the honors of Frontier League MVP, All-Frontier League first team three times, Daily News and Ventura County Star all-area first teams, and All-CIF Division IV Second Team twice. At Sports Shack, Julie led the 18-1’s to the Reno Festival Championship in 2005. She also earned the honors of Volleyball Magazine Fab 50.
